Whether you have returned from overseas with a rolled souvenir, purchased a fine art giclée print, or created your own masterpiece on raw canvas, the way it is stretched determines its longevity. At Jubilee Framers, we provide professional canvas stretching in Brisbane using premium materials that prevent sagging, warping, and paint cracking.
Based in Kelvin Grove, our workshop handles everything from small personal photos on canvas to massive, oversized contemporary artworks.
A canvas is a “living” material that expands and contracts with changes in temperature and humidity. Low-quality, thin stretcher bars can bow over time, causing the tension of the canvas to fail.
The canvas is stretched around the sides and stapled on the back. You can choose to have the image continue around the edges (wrap-around) or have clean white/black borders. This is a popular "minimalist" look ready for immediate hanging.
For a sophisticated, high-end gallery look, we can fit your stretched canvas into a Floating Frame (also known as a Canvas Plus frame). This creates a small "gap" between the canvas and the frame, making the artwork appear to "float" within the border.
Because we build our own frames in-house, we are not limited by standard sizes. We specialize in large-scale canvas stretching for corporate foyers and grand residential spaces.

Many of our clients return from trips to Bali, Europe, or Africa with beautiful rolled canvases. These unique pieces often require specialized handling due to the non-standard fabrics or climates they originated from. At Jubilee Framers, we take extra steps to ensure your holiday memories transition safely to your walls:
We carefully assess the paint layer for brittleness or "cracking" risks before applying tension to the fabric.
We manually align the artwork to ensure horizons, signatures, and borders stay perfectly straight—correcting any "wonky" edges common in hand-painted souvenirs.
If your canvas arrived unsealed, we can apply professional-grade protective coatings to shield the pigment from Brisbane’s humidity and dust.
Since overseas art rarely follows Australian "standard" sizes, we custom-build every stretcher bar to the exact millimetre of your specific piece.
Absolutely. This is our specialty. We carefully align the painted edge with the corner of the stretcher bar to ensure none of the primary composition is lost around the sides.
A stretched canvas is simply the fabric wrapped around wooden internal bars. A framed canvas takes that stretched unit and places it inside a decorative external frame (like a Floating Frame) for a more finished, architectural look.
While all fabric can relax slightly over many years, our use of kiln-dried timber and professional bracing significantly reduces this risk. If it does happen, our "keyable" frames allow for easy re-tightening.
