At Jubilee Framers, custom framing often extends well beyond artwork and photographs. A recent project for Sovereign Rise gave us the opportunity to combine custom framing, precision fabrication, printing and physical material samples to create three professional interior finishes display boards.
The completed boards present three distinct interior colour schemes — White Haven, Warm Dune and Coastal Mist — in a format that allows clients to see and compare real finishes together in one carefully designed presentation.
Creating a Professional Material Sample Display
The brief called for more than simply mounting a collection of samples to a board. The finished pieces needed to present a broad range of interior materials clearly while maintaining the refined visual identity of the Sovereign Rise project.
Each board brings together physical samples including:
- VJ wall panelling
- Carpet
- General and feature joinery
- Feature splashback finishes
- Paint finishes
- Timber-look vinyl plank flooring
- Stone benchtops
- General floor and wall tiles
- Brushed brass and brushed nickel tapware finishes
Rather than allowing these different materials, textures and thicknesses to compete visually, we created a structured layout with consistent spacing and clearly identified applications.
The result gives customers an immediate overview of how the different finishes work together as a complete interior palette.
Custom Designed 500 × 800 mm Display Boards
As the project developed, we refined the layout into a compact 500 × 800 mm portrait format. This provided enough space to showcase the important material samples while creating a board that remained practical for display.
We carefully balanced the position and scale of each sample, paying particular attention to feature materials such as the stone benchtops, flooring and carpet.
This design process was an important part of the project. A successful architectural finishes board needs to do more than hold samples—it needs to guide the viewer through the selections and make the entire scheme easy to understand.
Precision-Cut Acrylic and Custom Printed Graphics
We produced the main presentation face using 4.5 mm opaque acrylic, giving the boards a clean, rigid and professional foundation.
The Sovereign Rise branding, colour-scheme names and individual finish descriptions form an integral part of the presentation rather than appearing as separately attached labels.
We also worked carefully around the dimensions of the physical material samples. Each opening required accurate measurement and sufficient clearance so materials such as carpet, timber, tile and stone could sit neatly within the finished layout.
Hard materials such as stone and tile required specialist cutting to their final dimensions before assembly, while other samples could be adapted during the production process.
This combination of precision fabrication and custom framing allowed us to achieve a much cleaner result than a conventional surface-mounted sample board.

Matching the Frames to the Interior
The frame was another important part of the brief.
The Sovereign Rise interior already featured framed elements with a warm walnut appearance, so we selected a walnut-toned custom frame that would complement the surrounding décor rather than introduce another competing finish.
Using a floater-style presentation also gives the board a subtle separation from the outer frame. This small detail helps the presentation feel lighter and more contemporary while still providing the substantial finish required for a commercial display.
The warm timber frame also works particularly well against the neutral board background and the natural timber, stone and carpet samples.
Three Colour Schemes, One Consistent Presentation
Although White Haven, Warm Dune and Coastal Mist contain different combinations of finishes, we maintained the same design language across all three boards.
Consistent branding, typography, sample positioning and framing make the set feel cohesive, while the physical materials allow each palette to retain its own character.
Seen together, the three boards demonstrate how thoughtful presentation can transform a collection of individual building samples into a professional sales and specification tool.
Built, Framed and Carefully Packed for Transport
Once we completed the assembly and framing, we carefully protected the finished boards for transport to the Sovereign Rise project in Port Macquarie.
With materials such as stone, tile, carpet, timber and acrylic incorporated into the same piece, secure packing matters just as much as the fabrication itself. We used protective wrapping, reinforced corners and clear fragile identification to help the completed boards arrive safely.
From initial layout development and sample measurement through to printing, fabrication, framing and final packing, this project required several different production disciplines to work together.
