When a professional achievement deserves lasting recognition, the right framing presentation makes all the difference. Jubilee Framers recently completed a custom certificate framing project for a Royal Australian College of General Practitioners fellowship certificate, creating a refined and formal presentation that protects the document while giving it a strong visual presence.
For this project, the client requested a framed copy of the certificate rather than framing the original. We scanned the certificate, printed it onto Ilford Smooth Cotton 310gsm paper, and then framed the reproduction using conservation-minded materials and a classic gold-and-black finish.
Reproducing the Certificate Before Framing
Before framing, our team captured the certificate using a flatbed scan at 300 DPI. This allowed us to create a high-quality reproduction while keeping the original document safely preserved. We then printed the copy onto Ilford Smooth Cotton 310gsm, a premium cotton paper that gives the certificate a soft, elegant finish with excellent detail and tonal quality.
This approach works well for important certificates, awards, degrees and professional documents where the owner may prefer to store the original separately while still displaying a beautifully framed version.
A Traditional Gold Frame with a Formal Finish
The frame selected for this project was a Murano Gold/Black Bellini moulding. The warm gold finish gives the piece a traditional, prestigious feel, while the black detailing helps tie the frame into the darker matboard design.
Gold frames remain a popular choice for professional certificate framing because they suit formal documents, medical qualifications, university degrees, legal certificates and achievement awards. In this case, the frame adds warmth and authority without overwhelming the certificate itself.
Black Matboard with Gold Detailing
To create depth and contrast, we used Peterboro Midnight Black blackcore matboard, paired with a gold leaf fillet around the certificate opening.
The dark matboard gives the certificate a strong visual border, while the gold fillet creates a fine highlight that connects beautifully with the frame. This combination draws attention into the certificate and gives the overall piece a polished, professional appearance.
UltraVue Glass for Clarity and Protection
We completed the framing with UltraVue glass, which helps reduce distracting reflections while maintaining excellent clarity.
For certificates and detailed printed documents, clear visibility matters. UltraVue glass allows the viewer to read the certificate easily while giving the finished frame a premium look suitable for an office, consulting room, reception area or home study.
