Project Overview: Two Distinct Artworks, One Cohesive Outcome

For this project, we framed two very different artworks, each requiring a unique approach:

  • A large-scale Emily Ebbs fabric artwork, requiring stretching and a shadow box presentation

  • An Ian Friend artwork, framed with conservation-grade materials and museum glass

Despite their differences, both pieces needed to complement a sophisticated interior palette, featuring warm timber tones and curated finishes.

Shadow Box Framing for Textile Artwork

We began by carefully re-stretching the Emily Ebbs textile artwork onto a 40mm stretcher frame, ensuring structural integrity and a clean, even surface.

To complete the presentation, we selected a 50mm shadow box frame in a natural cashew timber finish. This approach allows the artwork to:

  • Sit slightly recessed within the frame

  • Maintain a soft, floating appearance

  • Integrate seamlessly with surrounding interior finishes

The result is a minimal, contemporary framing style that enhances the artwork without overpowering it—ideal for modern residential interiors.

Conservation Framing with Museum Glass

For the Ian Friend artwork, we implemented a conservation framing solution designed for both presentation and long-term protection.

This included:

  • A custom-cut mount board to provide visual breathing space

  • A timber frame finished in a warm pecan tone, aligned with surrounding furniture

  • Non-reflective museum glass, offering:

    • Exceptional clarity

    • Reduced glare

    • UV protection to preserve the artwork over time

This combination ensures the artwork remains the focal point while benefiting from gallery-grade archival framing standards.

Matching Materials to Interior Design

A key aspect of this project involved matching frame finishes to existing interior elements, including timber furniture and architectural details.

Through careful consultation and sampling, we achieved:
